This performance is based on a pre-colonial Filipino practice where a person, usually a woman from the community, tells their stories through singing, chanting, reciting or reading in a community gathering. The text is based on the artist’s personal reflection and from the letters and reflections written by the participants of the workshop Unuttered Definites, that were conceived months before the exhibition.

Unuttered Definites is the result of a series of Il mio Filippino community gatherings, held to reflect and confront on the bodily experience of exhaustion and rest either as domestic and care workers themselves, or in the impact of this exhaustion on the bodies in proximity to them — within their family units or within the larger diasporic community. Taking place over two weekends, the workshops invited a cross-generational group of six first-generation care and cleaning workers and Italians of Filipino descent to share and produce letters and reflections on the Filipino experience of negotiating, finding, and projecting their identities in Italy.
